2023年9月6日～13日に、大学院サステイナビリティ学教育プログラム(GPSS)「国際実践教育演習」がベトナムで開講されました。

国際実践教育演習は、過去10年間にわたってタイで実施していましたが、2019年度よりベトナムに拠点を移し、ベトナムの日越大学気候変動・開発プログラム(VJU MCCD)の学生と共同で開講しています。コロナ禍で3年間中止せざるを得なかったため、今回は2019年度以来の開講となりました。茨城大学から学生13名、教員3名、日越大学からは学生7名、教職員3名が参加しました。

このうち、9月8日～10日では、ハノイの南東、紅河の河口部に位置するナムディン省のスゥアントゥイ国立公園 (Xuan Thuy National Park: XTNP)周辺での演習となりました。XTNPは、東南アジアで最初にラムサール条約湿地に登録され、豊かな生態系、特にヘラサギなどの水鳥の重要な生息地になっています。しかし、気候変動、ツーリズムの振興、エビ・貝類の養殖といった経済活動と環境保全の在り方が課題となっています。そこで、A)気候変動による土地利用変化、B)生態系（マングローブ）への影響とその保全、C)農業・養殖業への影響と持続可能な生活様式、という3つのテーマについて日越混成グループでフィールド調査を行いました。

9月11日には再びハノイの日越大学に戻り、3グループの調査結果に関する発表と議論を行いました。大きなトラブルもなく、9月13日早朝には全員無事に帰国しました。

Fieldwork on sustainability (international) of GPSS in Ibaraki University, September 2023

The Graduate Program on Sustainability Science (GPSS) at Ibaraki University (IU) offers common subjects shared by all four graduate schools from 2009 (https://www.glec.ibaraki.ac.jp/gpss/).
The subject “Fieldwork on sustainability (international)”of GPSS has been held with the collaboration between MCCD (Master Program in Climate Change and Development) in Vietnam-Japan University since 2019 (while it was not held between 2020-22 due to COVID-19). This fieldwork is also part of “Hands-on Training and Interdisciplinary Fieldwork on Climate Change” for MCCD students.
In 8-10 September 2023, 26 people (13 students and 3 faculties from IU, 7 students and 3 faculties from MCCD) conducted the filed surveys in Xuan Thuy National Park (XTNP), Nam Dinh province. The research topics include A) Land use and land cover changes, B) Mangrove ecosystem and conservation, and C) Livelihood and disaster management. Both IU and MCCD students took interviews with local stakeholders, sampling of the environment such as water and soil, and had active discussions about climate change and sustainability in XTNP.
We wish this joint effort to promote sustainability science and climate change and development studies to contribute both our education and research and deepen our partnership and collaboration.
